The Gower Peninsula provides a fantastic backdrop to a whole host of sporting activities. Many villages have put forward a rugby or football team, or host more serene sporting meetings such as bowling competitions. There are numerous pony trekking and horse riding centres which offer routes across some of Gower's more magnificent stretches of countryside and the peninsula's beaches are famed for its surfing and canoeing conditions. The area even offers the braver sporting enthusiast the opportunity to parachute and/or hang-glide. For the more retiring adventurer, The Gower Society arranges many rambles across popular and lesser known footpaths alike.
Swansea City Council has also developed many great cycling routes around Swansea and Gower, and these are all extremely well managed. There is even a dry skiing slope in the city. In short, you name a sport and Gower provides the opportunity to practice it.
