Fallen Flyers is an engrossing volume of work detailing the results of enthusiastic research into a previously neglected area of Gower history. Demonstrating that there are still sources of untapped information for modern historians to investigate, Steven H. Jones has produced an unique study detailing the events surrounding the unfortunate aircrew who lost their lives over Gower during WW2. These men's deaths have not hitherto been honoured like their fellow colleagues who gave their lives in battle. For the aircrew that died over or on the Gower Peninsula during WW2 did so as a result of mechanical aircraft failure or accidental collisions. Nevertheless, their contribution to the war effort was great - as is detailed in Steven H. jones' book.
Replete with some very rare photographs, details of some amazing finds the author discovered upon recently revisiting the sites of these crashes and as complete a history on the subject as one could possibly wish for, Fallen Flyers is a refreshing new companion to any local history bookshelf.
