Welcome to Gower is committed to bucking this trend. Although I believe in actively advertising Swansea and Gower and introducing more people to its natural wonders, my driving mission is to install a deep understanding and love for all aspects of the peninsula. By introducing people to the full complexity of a given region, I believe that they will not simply utilise the place for their own ends. A beach, for example, will not simply be a pretty place to work on one's tan; an open heath land not just an ideal area to lay down a table cloth and share a picnic. Instead they will be understood as environments shared by wildlife; their characters shaped by the traumas of active geology; their moods created by history and the curious folklore that time has embroidered upon the land. It is my firm belief that a deeper knowledge of an area can bring about a true love for a place and a desire to become proactive in its protection against a demanding and uncertain future.
